Objectives of UBEC
The UBE Programme aims to:
- Every government in Nigeria must make sure all primary and junior secondary school-aged children get free, compulsory, and good quality basic education.
- Every parent must make sure their child goes to and finishes primary and junior secondary school.
- Education groups in each area must make sure parents do their duty under the Universal Basic Education Act, 2004.
- Students should move from primary to junior secondary school without needing an entrance exam. Instead, they’ll have regular assessments. Final exams and certificates will be given after nine years of basic education.
- The Secondary School system should follow the National Policy on Education by separating junior and senior secondary schools.
