Abia State University Uturu (ABSU) is a public university in Nigeria. It’s one of the universities owned by the state government.
The university started in 1981 as Imo State University, Etiti, in what is now Abia State. It was started by Sam Mbakwe, who was the governor of Imo State at that time. The main campus was in Etiti, Imo State, and the Law Department was in Aba. Later, from 1984 to 1985, it moved to its permanent place in Uturu Okigwe under the leadership of General Ike Nwachukwu.
